According to The Global Decipher Weekly Intelligence Brief, based on open-source data, Pakistan recorded 28 verified security incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan from August 1–7, 2026. The week was marked by a deadly suicide bombing in Swat alongside sustained intelligence-based operations by security forces, which resulted in 58 terrorists being neutralized, including high-value targets and key commanders. The violence also claimed the lives of 12 security and law-enforcement personnel, alongside 12 civilian deaths.

The Deadliest Incident of the Week

The deadliest incident occurred on August 2, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest outside Kabal Police Station in Swat, resulting in 16 fatalities, including seven police personnel and nine civilians. The attack also left people injured and was the deadliest incident recorded during the week.

Major Counterterrorism Achievements

Security forces maintained a sustained counterterrorism tempo through intelligence-based operations and firefights, neutralizing 58 terrorists during the week. Among the major developments, Amir Mauviya, head of the proscribed TTP Orakzai chapter, was killed during an intelligence-based operation in Chapri Naryab, Hangu. Security forces also neutralized Asim Dawar, a key terrorist commander, in North Waziristan.

KP Remains the Primary Theatre

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounted for 24 of the 28 recorded incidents, making it the primary theater of security activity during the week. Bannu recorded five incidents, followed by Hangu with four and Lower South Waziristan with three. Peshawar, Bajaur, Khyber and Swat also remained key areas of activity.

Counterterrorism Operations in Balochistan

Balochistan recorded four major operations in Nushki, Washuk, Mastung and Kalat, resulting in 19 terrorists being neutralized. No security-force or civilian fatalities were reported during these operations, although a passenger bus was hijacked in Kalat, causing logistical disruption.

The first week of August reflected sustained counterterrorism pressure alongside continued terrorist activity. Security forces achieved significant operational gains through intelligence-based operations, while terrorists continued to employ suicide bombings, targeted shootings, IED attacks and attacks on police checkpoints and schools. The report highlights the need for stronger community-level intelligence and hardened defenses around static security positions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
